As a result of the consumption of energy, the emission of greenhouse gas has risen constantly over the past few years. Air pollution is particularly prevalent in areas of intense activity or in urban environments. This is due to the high concentration of industries and domestic heating, but also because of motor traffic. Pollution is linked to a heavy increase in population in coastal areas and inadequate sanitation and waste treatment infrastructures constitute a threat to public health.

The effects of climate change on human health can be reduced by adopting precautionary measures, improving people's knowledge and by setting up monitoring and alarm systems.

Pollution is the introduction of chemical or genetic substances or of energy in the form of noise, heat, light or radioactive radiation into the environment to a point that its effects become harmful to human health, the health of other living organisms, the environment or the climate. We should act now, even in small ways, to preserve our environment. Using less paper or making compost from biodegradable waste is already a start and can have a large impact if many people join forces.
