Last spring the weather was unusually hot. The ranchers lost many of their cows because there was not enough water for them to drink. At other times, torrential rains and storms caused the river Cazones to overflow and flood my city. Many people lost their homes. The weather is more extreme and unreliable. Two years ago, Hurricane Dean swept through the region, destroying houses and uprooting trees. It was terrible. Hurricanes are predicted to become more frequent as climate change takes hold.

My family makes cheese. We are taking steps to reduce our consumption of energy and water. If we all work together and do our part, we can make a difference. We don't need words, we need action. We all need to change our lifestyles - because the world needs our help.
